35W×7 Non-Rotating — 24 mm Tower crane project
High-Rise Tower Crane Main Hoist

Fitted to Potain and Liebherr tower cranes on the Dubai Creek Tower project. These cranes operate at heights over 300 meters. The 35W×7 rotation-resistant rope is essential for this application. It enables safe high-lift single-part operations. The tower will be one of the tallest structures in the world upon completion. Pre-cast concrete elements weighing up to 28 tons must be placed with millimeter precision. Our rotation-resistant wire rope ensures safe and accurate lifting throughout the construction cycle. Wind speeds at the top can exceed 80 kilometers per hour.
The Challenge
Lift heights exceed 300 meters on this project. Single-part reeving demands absolute rotation resistance. Without it, loads spin dangerously at height. Therefore, pre-cast element placement becomes inaccurate and unsafe.
Moreover, wind loads at extreme heights add further complexity. For instance, a 28-ton load swinging in strong wind creates massive dynamic stress. The rope must stay stable even under these conditions. Safety is paramount in high-rise construction.
Furthermore, Dubai’s humid coastal climate accelerates corrosion. The combination of heat, humidity, and construction dust is unforgiving. The operator needed a proven 35W×7 rotation-resistant rope. One with a track record in super-tall building projects.
Our Solution
We supplied 35W×7 compacted strand ropes for this project. They combine rotation resistance with compacted outer strands. In addition, this design gives superior crush resistance on multi-layer drums. The compacted strands reduce internal friction between layers.
Furthermore, the galvanized finish protects against corrosion. This is vital in Dubai’s humid coastal climate. Each rope underwent tension-torsion testing before delivery. Consequently, we could guarantee zero rotation under full working load.
The 35W×7 rotation-resistant rope was installed on six cranes across the site. In addition, we provided on-site technical support. Therefore, the rigging team could install and tension each rope correctly.
Results
Zero rotation incidents occurred across six cranes over 14 months. In fact, load spinning was completely eliminated from day one. All pre-cast elements were placed within the required millimeter tolerance.
Moreover, drum crushing was reduced by 60 percent compared to standard round-strand ropes. As a result, the drum surface remained smooth after thousands of lifting cycles. This extended the service life of the winch drums as well.
Finally, the customer specified Goolinked ropes for all future project cranes. Consequently, our 35W×7 rotation-resistant rope is now the preferred specification for the entire construction group.
